The Mission:

Hunger is a very real problem in this nation – every year over thirty-five million Americans face life without adequate food.  With today’s economic challenges many ordinary families have fallen on hard times and just need a little help to make ends meet while they get back on their feet.  Job loss, unexpected medical bills, and rising gas and grocery costs have all put an added financial strain on families that are dealing with these and other issues.  That’s where Angel Food Ministries can make the difference.  Angel Food is a nationwide food program offering low cost food relief to anyone in need.  At Weddington Church we have also partnered with Operation Reach Out, a program dedicated to reaching out to the poor of Union County.  This partnership gives families and individuals who are financially able an opportunity to purchase food for those that simply cannot afford to purchase it for themselves.   If you or someone you know needs help – Angel Food at Weddington Church is here for you. 

How the Program Works:

Angel Food Ministries provides people with a “hand up” by offering $65 worth of groceries for just $30!  Each month Angel Food puts out a menu that includes a variety of meats, fresh or frozen vegetables, and staples such as rice, beans and canned goods.  There are no limits to the number of boxes that can be purchased and no income requirements to be met.  To participate, simply download this month's Angel Food Order Form  and mail or bring to the church by the deadline given with payment by cash, check, money-order, or Food Stamp EBT card.  Then stop by the Family Life Center on Distribution Day (9:30 am to 10:30 am) to pick up your order.

How It's Grown!

This practical ministry is helping individuals from all across America. Started in 1994 in Georgia, the Angel Food program has grown to where in 2006, they helped feed close to 500,000 families in 35 states. Angel Food Ministries has crossed denominational lines and has spread the good news of the Gospel of Christ through salvation tracts that are placed in each food order.  At Weddington Church, the Doers of the Word Sunday School class are working together to bring Angel Food Ministries to Union County.
