Disciple Bible Studies are a fundamental part of adult discipleship at Weddington Church. These studies will take you on an amazing journey through the Bible. You will set out on a Biblical adventure together, yet you will each be on your own journey of discovery and personal growth as you grow closer to God and deepen your faith in Jesus Christ. Disciple Bible Studies typically begin in the fall.
Disciple Bible Study
Disciple I is an amazing journey through the entire Bible, emphasizing the wholeness of the Bible as a revelation of God. The study draws upon the work of scholars, the personal Bible reading and study of the participants, dynamic group discussions that aid participants in deeper Biblical understanding, and transformational spiritual growth. Disciple I meets for 34 weeks and involves approximately 30 minutes of daily homework. It’s an experience that will draw you closer to God and others as you journey together.
Disciple II is a study of Genesis, Exodus, Luke, Acts, and the start of the Christian church. The study emphasizes the rhythm of coming to God and going for God; of being in God’s Word and being in the world individually and corporately. This in-depth Bible study shows how God made His presence known to His chosen people and how, in His perfect time, He made His presence known to the world. The group meets for 32 weeks and involves approximately 30 minutes of daily homework.
Jesus in the Gospels invites believers to look at Jesus in each of the four Gospels and ask the question, “Who is the Jesus that you see?” You will study the names, the places, and the people – and encounter Jesus, who is both hard to ignore and hard to control, as portrayed in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The group meets for 30 weeks and is a second generation Disciple Bible Study.
