Position Title: HISkids Exceptional Children’s Coordinator

Reports to: Children’s Pastor

Status: Part-time, Non-Exempt

Location: Weddington, North Carolina (On-site)

Position Summary

Weddington Methodist Church is seeking a part-time HISkids Coordinator to lead our exceptional children’s ministry program. The coordinator will report to the Children’s Pastor and will be responsible for running a special program for children with special needs and/or disabilities, ages 4 to 12. This role will help these amazing children grow spiritually through the teachings of Jesus Christ. The coordinator will work on Sunday mornings and some weekdays and/or evenings at our church’s main campus in Weddington, North Carolina. This is a great opportunity for a dedicated individual passionate about expanding a vital children’s program to better serve an underserved segment of our community.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and manage the church’s exceptional children’s program for children ages 4 to 12.
  • Develop the HISkids ministry curriculum.
  • Work with the Children’s Pastor to build relationships with new families and engage them in our HISkids ministry.
  • Learn the needs of new families, identify the best interventions for each child, and integrate children into the ministry.
  • Recruit and train volunteers to ensure a nurturing environment is maintained, with an adequate number of helpers.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records for each child and family.
  • Oversee policies, procedures, and routines that ensure the safety of children and team members.
  • Ensure that the HISkids program is aligned with the mission of our church and the objectives of our children’s ministry.
  • Act as an advocate for exceptional children within the church by educating families and fostering opportunities for inclusive worship.
  • Serve as a minister to parents of exceptional children, offering support and encouragement.
  • Lead a HISkids class at Vacation Bible Camp during the month of June.
  • Communicate regularly with the Children’s Pastor, volunteers, staff, and parents.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment.
  • Participate in bi-monthly Council meetings and other meetings as needed.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required. Exceptional children or special education degree preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
  • Reliable, with a love for exceptional children and their families.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.

 

Expectations:

  • Weddington Methodist Church employees are serving in ministry roles and are therefore expected to conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with the faith and social principles of Weddington Methodist Church.
  • Employees are encouraged to participate in continuing education activities related to their areas of responsibility.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Able to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods of time during work hours.
  • Able to work a variety of hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Noah’s Nursery is looking for energetic and enthusiastic workers to join our team! Our nursery has 3 classrooms: infants, toddlers, and 2-year-olds. Work hours are Sunday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with competitive pay. Caregivers must be 19 years old or older and submit to a criminal background check.
