Justin Lineberry Announced as New Director of Praise and Worship
This month at Weddington Methodist Church, we are thrilled to announce Justin Lineberry as our new full-time Director of Praise and Worship. Justin’s first Sunday in his new role was June 11.
Justin was raised in Galax, Virginia where he attended school and was raised in church where he says some of his earliest memories come from. “I come from a long line of musicians. Some of my earliest memories are sitting in the pew in our church watching my grandmother play the piano while my grandfather, aunts, and uncles sang in the choir. I started singing in front of audiences in the third grade, and have never really stopped.” After graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in History, Justin and his wife Micheal moved to North Carolina in 2004 where he began working primarily in sales in the architectural glass industry.
Justin and Micheal have been attending Weddington UMC since 2005. Justin began serving on the 9:30 Praise and Worship Team shortly after his family’s first visit to the church. In April of 2010, he began leading the 10:10 praise and worship service which he describes as being “one of the greatest blessings of his life. To be a part of what God is doing in and through our church has been such a rewarding and humbling experience.”
Justin is looking forward to his continued work at Weddington through the music ministry and has a huge passion for praise and worship music and leadership. “In my mind, music is one of the things that binds us together. In one way or another, we are all inspired or moved emotionally by music, which is such a powerful platform for worship. It allows us both individually and collectively to have an authentic encounter with the Living God. As a musician, there is no higher calling than to be used as an instrument of the Holy Spirt to help lead others in worship.” Justin’s main tasks will be to lead the praise and worship ministry of our church. He will be responsible for the growth and development of our 9:30, 10:10, and Youth Praise Team ministries here at the Weddington campus, as well as supporting the Praise and Worship ministries of our other campuses.
Justin has felt a strong call from God to this position and to music ministry and has many ideas and aspirations for his new role. “I think that one of my greatest hopes is that we continue to develop our culture as a church where people feel free to express outwardly what they feel inwardly towards the Lord. Worship is such a crucial part of our faith walk, both privately and when we come together as the body of Christ. I urge each of you to worship the Lord in all that you do and then let the overflow of your hearts pour out when we gather as the church.”
Please join us in welcoming Justin, his wife Micheal, and their two boys Wyatt and Noah (9) into this new role in our community of faith. We look forward to Justin’s continued ministry at Weddington Methodist as we seek to worship God with passion.
