Meet the Adult Ministry Team
Adult Discipleship Pastor
The Rev. Patsy Sorrell has a deep love for Jesus and a passion for discipleship. She grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, attended Iowa State University, and earned her Master of Divinity from Northern Seminary in Lisle, Illinois.
Throughout her ministry, Patsy has served three Methodist congregations, with a particular focus on discipleship, care ministries, and empowering servant leaders. She is passionate about helping people know God more deeply, experience God’s love, grace, and forgiveness, and intentionally live out their faith in practical, everyday ways.
Patsy and her husband, Bob, moved to the Charlotte area in 2015 and are grateful to be part of a Christ-centered church family. Together, they have five children and a growing number of grandchildren who bring joy and laughter to their lives. In her free time, Patsy enjoys gardening, trying new recipes, and spending time outdoors.

Adult Discipleship Ministry Assistant
Merete has been part of the Weddington Church family since moving to North Carolina in 2019 with her husband and two children. Over the years, she has served in a variety of ministries, including the Chancel Choir, Children's Ministry, and the Women’s Ministry Team. She has also served as the Weddington Christian Preschool Music Teacher.
In 2025, Merete joined the Adult Ministry Team and she is so excited to continue growing alongside this church community. Merete has a heart for building relationships and sharing the love of Jesus in meaningful and authentic ways.
Outside of work, she enjoys being outdoors, exercising, and spending quality time with friends and family.
