Be Still & Know: Finding Refuge in God
The days between Christmas and the New Year often feel quieter, slower, and a little disorienting. After weeks of preparation and celebration, we find ourselves in a pause—invited to breathe, to reflect, and to consider what God has been doing in our midst.
In this message from Psalm 46, Rev. Dr. Brad Hopper reminds us that God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Even when the world feels unstable, when nations rage and circumstances feel beyond our control, God remains present, powerful, and trustworthy. This psalm speaks not only to fear and uncertainty, but to our deep desire to control outcomes instead of trusting the One who holds all things.
As we approach a new year, this sermon invites us to hear God’s command and invitation: “Be still and know that I am God.” Rather than striving harder or adding more, we’re encouraged to consider what we might release—making space to rest, to trust, and to more fully know the God who chose to dwell among us through Jesus Christ.
